does blackjack basic strategy give you the odds over the dealer?

if i were to go to a casino, and hold my bet at the same amount for as long as i am playing, and i follow basic strategy exactly, will i end up gaining money over time or losing it?

I was tossing and turning in bed the other night, struggling with the heat of a hot Australian summer night and worrying about our latest financial crisis. Our 15 year old son had been 'experimenting' (as the wife puts it) by ringing 1900 sex numbers for the past two months and our phone bill just had recently arrived an amounted to an astonishing $4892.80. Then, like straight out of a scene from Indecent Proposal, I had the urge to gather our meager savings ($2000 only half of the phone bill) out of the hiding spot in the cupboard, call a taxi and make our way to Perth's Burswood Casino. I figured if I could double the money just twice, Id have $8000, more than enough to pay all our bills. I proceeded to the blackjack table and placed a $2000 bet on the end position of the table. Unlike America and other places, all the cards are played face up in blackjack here. My first card a Jack (10) dealer gets a 9. My second card is an 8. So Ive a total of 18. Dealer needs a 9 to equal me and a 10,J,Q,K, or Ace to beat me. She pulls an 8.She totals 17. I double my $2000. Second hand I draw a 6. Dealer pulls a 6. My second cards an 9. My totals 15. My knowledge of blackjack basic strategy tells me to stand on 15. The dealer pulls a 5(11) then a 2 (13) then an ace (14) then a two (16)........now all she needs to do is draw a 6, a 7, a 8, a 9, a 10, a Jack, a Queen, or a King (8 of the 13 possibilities!) She pulls a 5 and gets 21 and pulls my $4000 into the casino coffers at the same time. A God, I dont think so.
