Is there an easy way to memorize the blackjack basic strategy chart? (Answers: 6) (Comments: 0)

I don't really want to have the chart in front of me at the casino, so I'm wondering if anyone has any hints about how to easily memorize the blackjack basic strategy chart? The hard hands are pretty easy to learn, but grasping the concepts behind the soft hands and the pairs isn't coming as easily.

Several blackjack basic strategy charts show to split 4's against the dealer's 5 or 6. This is a move that sometimes I make and sometimes I don't. When I'm starting at 8, that seems like a hand to hit and make 18 or I sometimes even double down against a dealer 5 or 6. Double down or split puts the same amount of more money on the table. The idea to split 4's is to get a 7, 6, or 5 so you can double down after the split and put more money on the table against a dealer's bust card. One time I split 4's and I lost and the dealer said never to split anything that starts with a F (four or five). But most dealers don't know strategy anyway. There were other times I won with this split. So, would you split 4's against a dealer 5 or 6.
